Artist Talk: Merlin Sheldrake and Rob Kesseler

This week we had the last in our series of Words at the Works talks celebrating 10 years of our wonderful creative home - and what a conversation to finish on! Biologist Merlin Sheldrake, author of international best selling book Entangled Life, and visual artist and Emeritus Professor of Art, Design & Science at Central Saint Martins, Rob Kesseler joined us to discuss all things fungal and microscopic. They spoke about what inspired them to get started in their respective fields and how the worlds of art and science can work collaboratively for greater understanding and knowledge, plus the importance of looking and how we represent the world around us, which is so much more than just the world we see with the naked eye.

We are so proud to have been able to bring leading artists, curators, collectors, and commentators to Chalford for these intimate and thought provoking talks, it’s been an amazing year.
